In 2006, eight rooms and one suite were designed by Matteo Thun in the style of the turn of the century. Wall papers with a dark damast pattern, furniture with red velvet coverings by Wittmann and heavy chandeliers reflect the world of Josefine Mutzenbacher.

Some pieces of furniture, such as the desk and the "capitonné" are custome-made by Wittmann, after drawings by Matteo Thun. The bathrooms with their glass wall are designed completely in black with mosaics from Bisazza and individually placed Swarovski stones to create points of light, the floor is made out of black reflective marble.

The Polka rooms give a totally different picture. The designers Marie Rahm and Monica Singer successfully finished projects for international companies, such as Wittmann, Lobmeyr, Herend and BMW.

The main idea for the concept of Room 51 was to combine transparency, elegance and soft, floating colours by the use of curtains. Floating curtains, from the top to the bottom of the room which can be positioned in different ways, and, therefore, change the feeling you have when being in the room. The open bathroom is integrated in the entire concept, but separated through glass walls and curtains.

In the second Polka Room, the Chocolate Room, it is all about chocolate. A bar of chocolate made out of leather thrones at the top of the bed, the stylish pink carpet looks like a cake missing a piece. The colours of the bathroom's mosaic reflect the famous Viennese "Manner" wafers. The lamps and chairs in both of the Polka Rooms are designed by Polka and made by Wittmann.

Another highlight in terms of design is the inStyle Room Vitra, where a special multimedia centre with a special lighting concept - a cooperation of Krems Research and Zumtoble Lightning - was installed.

Moreover, you find exclusive designer lamps, furniture by Philippe Starck, Wittmann and Wiener Werkstätten in the entire hotel.

Architecture in Vienna:
In addition to the palaces and buildings along the Ringstraße, the Jugendstil is a key part of Vienna's architecture. Famous architects, such as Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann, Adolf Loos und Joseph Maria Olbrich built during the turn of the 19th to the 20th century world famous buildings, as the Secession, the Postsparkasse and the Looshaus.

The Architekturzentrum Wien (Architecture Centre Vienna) is located within a 5-minutes walk inside the MuseumsQuartier and offers further information and tours.
