Otto Ernst Wiesenthal, the owner, has a unique art collection and shows it throughout his hotel.
You can find works of art from Niki de Saint Phalle or Annie Leibowitz, Andy Warhol, Franz Ringel, Blume, Walter Schmögner, Lisa Huber, Eva Wagner, Barbara Riedl, R. C. Andersen, Peter Atanasov, Hammerstiel, Ranzoni, Franz Wiesenthal, Kalanikov, Gilbert & George, Gottfried Helnwein, Christian L. Attersee, Miguel Henz, Markus Prachensky and lots more.
The works are spread on all floors, were brought from many international exhibitions and art fairs, and placed within the hotel with attention to detail.
Otto E. Wiesenthal gives also high priority to sponsoring and supporting young aspiring artists.
The venue on the ground floor of the hotel hosted several exhibtions last year. Joan Lobis Brown presented her photo collection "in the face of affliction" during the AIDS-congress. The artists Hempel, Ruehle & Ruehle from Berlin showed "exhibition HOTEL", and Miupar 5 Pamela Rußmann and Mirjam Unger presented their art of photography.
The Leopold Museum with works by Klimt and Schiele, as well as some temporary exhibitions, and the MUMOK (museum of modern art) are within a couple of minutes walking fistance from the Altstadt.
Moreover, the gallery Westlicht and the Hofmöbeldepot (imperial-royal Court Furniture Depot) are only a 5-minutes walk away. The Museum of Fine Arts as well as the Museum of Natural History are also close by.
