Here you will find a little list of frequently asked questions at the reception of the hotel Altstadt Vienna or on the phone.

FAQ - regarding your stay at the hotel Altstadt Vienna

1. Where can I park my car?

There are day parking tickets in order to not be subjected to the short-term parking zones (2 hours between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.) if your car is parked in a regular parking lot. They are limited and come at the rate of € 15,- per day.
Moreover, we have parking lots in the parking garage Apcoa Lerchenfelder Straße which is approximately 800 metres away from the hotel. The rate is € 25,- per night. As they come also in limited numbers we recommend to book a parking lot together with your room. Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, we offer a valet-parking-service for EURO 7,00 per one way.

2. When is check out? Can I leave my luggage in the hotel?

Check out is at 12 a.m. You can leave and pick up your bags anytime in the luggage room next to the front desk. If required, you can freshen up in a bathroom.

3. Which restaurant in vicinity to the hotel can you recommend?

The artist quarter Spittelberg offers a big variety of typical Austrian, traditional or very creative restaurants, including:

Glacis Beisl
Restaurant 1070

For international cuisine we recommend:

I Ragazzi (Italienisch)
I Carusi (Italienisch)
Sosaku (Japanisch)

These restaurants are all located within 500 metres from the hotel. We will be happy to provide further information at the front desk.

4. Is there wifi in the hotel? If yes, how much is it?

Wifi is free in the whole house, you will receive the password when checking in at our front desk. We also have a Mac in the breakfast area which you can use for browsing in the net or checking in online for your flight.

5. How far is it to walk to the city centre?

The Altstadt Vienna is located within the Spittelberg area, approximately 500 metres away from the MuseumsQuartier and the Mariahilfer Straße, Vienna's longest shopping street. Walking to the Hofburg, the City Hall or to the Parliament takes approximately 10 minutes, reaching the State Opera or St Stephans Cathedral approximately 20 minutes. The closest underground stop (Volkstheater) is also approx. 500 metres away.

6. What does the room rate include?

Our buffet breakfast (monday to friday from 6:30 - 11:00 a.m.; on weekends from 7:00 - 11:30 a.m.) including biological Viennese ham, smoked salmon, Mozzarella, Antipasti, freshly prepared egg dishes, as well as hot beverages and Prosecco.

7. How old is the Patrician building and since when does it house the Altstadt Vienna?

The Patrician house was built around 100 years ago as a palais for a Hungarian industrial in order to show his products and to house a factory in the courtyard.

The Altstadt Vienna was founded by Otto E. Wiesenthal in 1991. He created a place, a hotel where he loves to spend is time between his many journeys, always inspired by multi-cultural impressions as well as other hotels. In addition, he was looking for an ideal place to show his art collection.

8. Do you have a nice room for me?

At the Altstadt Vienna no room is like the other. We have something for every tast and every occasion - either classical with stucco on the ceiling or stylish and designed decorated with modern art. Each and every room is special.

9. What events are currently taking place in Vienna?

Vienna is the city in the world providing the highest quality of life for its inhabitants (2014). It is the city of music and hosts a vast cultural offer. Our hosts are happy to organize tickets for the opera, a ballet, a concert, theatre performance or an interesting exhibition for you. We also do have latest information on what to do while you are in Vienna. If you would like to gain further information before checking in please be so kind as to visit the website of the Vienna Tourism Board

10. Where can I buy public transport tickets or the Vienna Card?

Tickets for underground, tram and bus for either 24, 48 or 72 hours are available at the front desk. If you spend 3 days or more in Vienna we recommend to get the Vienna Card which includes public transport as well as reductions on admission fees, in cafés and shopping opportunities.

11. Until what time is there somebody at the front desk? Do I have to take my key with me?

There is somebody at the front desk 24 hours, so you can either take your key or leave it with us.

12. Can I have something to eat late in the evening?

The Salon, our bar and lounge, is open between after-breakfast and midnight offering drinks and snacks, including a variety of Austrian wines, in a cosy atmosphere with an open fireplace.
