How is it you are all so nice?
We do what we do with joy, and we love nothing more than to share that joy with you through our radiant disposition. People are the focus of all we do. We treat each other with respect, treasuring the strengths and uniqueness of everyone. "If our staff are doing good, our guests do good, too. And ultimately that is good for the business as well!", is owner Otto Ernst Wiesenthal's philosophy.

How far is it to the city center?
The Altstadt Vienna is located at the foot of the Spittelberg, ca. 5min from the MuseumsQuartier and the Mariahilfer Straße, Vienna's longest shopping street. You are about a 10-minute walk from Hofburg Palace, the city hall and parliament, while the State Opera and St. Stephen's Cathedral are around 20 minutes on foot. The nearest station for the underground is barely 5 min walking distance from here.
Where can I buy tickets for public transport as well as the Vienna Card?
24, 48 and 72-hour tickets for the underground, trams and buses can be obtained at the reception desk of the Altstadt Vienna. If you plan to spend 2 days or more in Vienna, we recommend the Vienna Card, which includes, in addition to public transportation, a variety of discounts for entrance tickets, coffeehouses as well as shopping.
What should I do when I am hungry?
The Altstadt is surrounded by numerous eateries that offer a wide selection of Austrian, international, traditional and creative cuisine. The Ulrich, Wiener, Glacis Beisl, I Ragazzi, Sosaku, SAPA ...to name just a few of our personal favorites. We will be happy to provide you with additional information once you are here, and will be glad to make reservations on your behalf.
After breakfast and until midnight, the Red Salon, our lounge and bar, is open for your enjoyment. Awaiting you there is a pleasant atmosphere with open fire along with a variety of snacks and drinks, including an excellent selection of Austrian wines. Fruit and our Kusmi tea buffet are also available to you free of charge throughout the day.
How do I find the room that's right for me?
The rooms at the Altstadt are furnished and designed very differently, as individual as the people who stay here. There is something here for every taste and every occasion, whether classic with stucco ceiling, kitschy, or with designer furniture, bright or dark, with view of the church or, if you prefer, of the Wilhelminenberg. There is one thing though, they have in common: pure coziness. Your best option is to give us a call and allow us to assist you.
