Word Rap on Vienna
Only in Vienna:
Coffee and cake as main course.
Better elsewhere:
The dialect.
My Vices:
Spending too much money in coffee houses.
Sweet Vienna:
The "Vollpension" - where real Viennese grandmas and grandpas bake cake around the clock.
Hearty Vienna:
A hearty cold platter at the Heurigen Mayer am Nussberg, Pierogi ist restaurant Fromme Helene, Curry at the Vietnamese Xin Chao.
Chic Vienna:
Aperitif at Schwarzes Kameel, DJ Clubbing Kunstschatzi at the Kunsthistorische Museum and afterwards a drink at Le Loft with a perfect view over Vienna.
After Dark:
Start with a beer or Spritzer at Cafe Benno and move on to some place with live music.
Not in any tourist guides
The University's library.
My Favorite Place
In winter, I enjoy to Dive into the Christmas buzz at the Christmas markets at Spittelberg or Karlsplatz; In summer, I love to be on a picnic blanket in Burggarten.
Must-Sees:
The Wiener Ringstraße. Hop onto the "Bim" as the Viennese call their tramways and go around the Ring; Try to catch one of the old models and look out the back window.
Selfie Spot:
In front of one of many complicated "no parking" signs, there are plenty.
Something to skip, even if it's in the guide:
A Mozart dinner-concert with musicians in costumes dancing a waltz.
In conclusion: What do I love about the city?
Vienna ist beautiful AND cool at the same time, and exciting without being stressful.
