Our sneaker-heroes about wild boars and the "village" Neubau.
What do you like about this area? Why are you in the 7th district?
Neubau, our district, is brimming with creativity. You'll find great restaurants, nice shops, newcomer with an own attitude, old-established specialty stores. It's a mixture you won't find anywhere else in Vienna. In addition, it feels like working in a village, you know your neighbors and therefore the typical anonymity of big cities disappears.
Which products are you selling? What is the passion behind it?
Zapateria means shoe store in Spanish. We specialize on sneakers, inspired by small boutiques in Barcelona, of which every little store has its own standing and attitude. That's what we wanted to have in our store. We focus on classics of the 70s to the 90s, complemented by classic leather shoes by Clarks.
Only in Vienna:
Better somewhere else:
French fries and beer.
The pink Aida, Kurkonditorei Oberlaa and Shokov, the best chocolate dealer you can imagine.
Pferdeleberkäse and Käsekrainer (sorry, you can't translate that, you'll have to try). Good bread, like the one they sell at Gragger, just around the corner from our shop.
When it gets dark:
Botanical Garden, Grelle Forelle and Hawidere.
Not in any tourist guide:
The Böhmischer Prater.
Your favorite place:
Arena Wien for good music.
The view of Vienna from the Lainzer Tiergarten.
The catacombs at St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
The Vienna central cemetery, where legends like Falco and Hans Moser are buried.
You can skip although in the guide book:
What do you love about the city?
The grumpy attitude and the melting pot Vienna for Austria and Middle Europe.
