Vienna Insider Tips from
Martina Kropfitsch
At the Hotel Altstadt, she processes invoices, optimises internal processes and often undertakes complex troubleshooting tasks. Here, she tells us where to find the best pistachio croissants and how to enjoy a cool breeze in summer.
Only in Vienna
Schönbrunn Palace. Worth a stroll at any time of year, any time of day!
Better elsewhere
The mountains and lakes.
Your Vice
Good food (as I am a trained chef) and, for a tasty, traditional Viennese meal with a difference: Brioche und Brösel.
Sweet Vienna
Café Délice Vienna with the best pistachio croissants.
Savory Vienna
Vienna has a lot to offer. My favourite spot for a cosy evening out is the Toma Tu Tiempo restaurant on Zieglergasse, which is really close by.
Chic Vienna
You will find fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere at Cucina Itameshi.
When it's getting dark
I'm studying, unfortunately. But at least I'm in a beautiful place: the National Library.
Not in any tourist guide
Hiking in Vienna from Perchtoldsdorfer Heide to Josefswarte! Especially in summer, it is highly recommended to take a walk through the cool forest and escape the heat of the city.
Your favourite spot
The Wilhelmienenberg. To look out over Vienna – preferably at sunset.
Not to be missed
Markets in Vienna, whether small ones like the Kutschkermarkt or larger ones like the Brunnenmarkt right next to Yppenplatz. I would always prefer these to the Naschmarkt.
Selfie Spot
Wilhelmienenberg
Can be missed, despite being found in tourists guides
The Prater, except from the terrace of the Neni restaurant, where you can see it from a distance and enjoy good food at the same time.
Finally: What do you love about Vienna
The diversity. The attitude to life. The people!
