Herr und Frau Klein

Local Hero Beate Klein from Herr und Frau Klein

The saviors of the children's rooms about raised sidewalks and Viennese white wine "Gemischter Satz".

In our "Local Heroes" portrait series, Beate gives us an insight into her personal Vienna.

What do you like about this area? Why are you in the 7th district?

The seventh district is our chosen „village“ within the city, the most dynamic district of Vienna. It houses a rare mixture of a strong tradition of family businesses next to a unique culture of design, shop and restaurants. You’ll find small alleys, beautiful Wilhelminian style houses, lively streets and from May to September pavement cafes take up the parking slots.

Which products are you selling? What is the passion behind it?

Our shop Herr und Frau Klein offers 600m2 filled with everything you need when you have kids, but „nice“. That means: strong contemporary design, a stated clean origin and really good quality. Starting from organic bodies, dolls to loft beds: our range of products is hand picked, the customer service professional and impartial – this is the reason we have the nicest clients in Vienna ;-)

Only in Vienna

The „Gemischter Satz“. A wine made of different kinds of grapes that grow in the same garden. They are harvested and pressed all at once with a special attention by the wine-growers. Actually you could say it is THE essence of the city.

Better somewhere else

As a former citizen of Barcelona I would say there are too little balconies and much too little beach.

Sweet Vienna

Tarte au Citron from our neighbours, the french pastry shop Tart’aTata. It’s a little piece of Paris in Vienna, with all its wonderful tarts, that are almost too pretty to be eaten.

Hearty Vienna

The „Woracziczky“ in the fifth district: fine Viennese kitchen, traditional atmosphere and really really nice hosts! During asparagus season a must – just like in autumn for Martini duck.

When it gets dark...

...the sidewalks are still crowded. That’s another reason why we love the seventh district.

Not in any tourist guide

J. Hornigs coffee bar: they just opened up on Siebensternplatz.

Your favorite place

Enjoying an after work drink at Figar, before the crowd rushes in.

Must-see

To be honest: our sweet little coffee corner on the first floor.

You can skip although in the guide book

Fiaker-Tour. Lieber Fahrrad ausborgen und stehen bleiben, wo man will.

What do you love about the city?

Every district is authentic. That means there is no touristy food-concourse with intrusive waiters, no areas with just offices and shops that are vacant after 7pm. In every quarter you will find people who work and live there with different backrounds. Either they have always been living there or moved in from the countryside. Every neighbourhood has ist very own charm. But still, I would only want to live in the seventh.
