The Viennese by choice about the beauty of Japanese notebooks and ghost train rides. In our portrait series "Local Heroes" Chloé gives insight into her personal Vienna.

What do you like about this area? Why are you in the 7th district?

I like it because of the many small shops and the areas in between that invite people to sit down and have a rest. For example the Ulrichsplatz or Augustinplatz, not far from Sous-Bois. The area invites you to stroll around and enjoy yourself. The area is easy to reach by public transport and also quite central, although it is not really the center district.

Which products are you selling? What is the passion behind it?

Sous-Bois is a shop for stationary lovers. I offer numerous notebooks. My favorite ones are the Japanese Travelers Notebooks by Midori. You can also find very different kinds of pens, be it ink, color pencils or felt pens. Of yours we have classic stationary products as well. There are a lot of really nice things that make good presents, like children's books or golden scissors. I am a graphic designer, so paper and print are both fascinating to me. My big dream came true when I was able to open up a shop with my personal choice of sorted stationary.

Onliy in Vienna

It's only in Vienna that parking slots are being replaced by so called "Schanigärten" (outdoor seating areas) and you can order soda with fresh pressed lemon ("Soda Zitron").

Better somewhere else

Grocery stores. In Austria the supermarkets do not inspire me.

Sweet Vienna

Kaiserschmarren and Mohnnudeln (just order if on the menu).

Hearty Vienna

The Wiener Wurstlprater. Ghost train and roller coaster. Afterwards to the "Weinschenke" in 5th district for the most delicious burger and great wine.

When it gets dark

In summer Volksgarten Pavillon is my favorite spot. There you can sit outside the whole night long.

Not in any tourist guide

Swimming in the Old Danube. And a pedal boat ride, for example here.

Your favorite place

I love the Museum of Natural History. In summer definitely the Old Danube.

You have to try everything.

What do you love about the city?

The city invites you to explore it on foot. Everything is very accessible and not stressful at all.
