Altstadt Tour #1-#9
Italian star architect Matteo Thun drew inspiration from the famous Viennese noblewoman Josefine Mutzenbacher and her era, creating eight rooms and a suite at Altstadt Vienna. Its rooms are reminiscent of boudoirs in the wicked style of turn-of-the-century Vienna. With dark stained oak parquet flooring and wallpaper with damask patterns as a decorative element. This atmospheric density is enhanced by red velvet furniture and chandeliers with Swarovski crystals and marble floors. The result is a sensual, intimate living space which transports the protagonists to the Viennese Belle Epoque.
Matteo Thun is known for his timeless yet innovative designs. He was a co-founder of the Milan-based design group Memphis, founded in the 1980s, and taught design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 1984 he has been self-employed with his own studio Thun & Partners. Whether product design or hotel concept, his designs can be found all over the world.
