The Altstadt Vienna celebrates a special birthday. It has been exactly 30 years since Otto Wiesenthal made his dream of owning his own hotel come true. It was one of the best decisions of his life, as he says himself. Numerous awards, loyal employees, regular guests, friends and companions prove him right.
And yet it was actually by coincidence that Otto Wiesenthal discovered the then vacant Pension Bellaria at Kirchengasse 41 in the seventh district. At the time, not necessarily the finest area of Vienna, but more of a red-light district.
How he ended up wanting to open a hotel there of all places anyways? And why he had to close again for four months immediately after opening? These stories are best told by Otto Ernst Wiesenthal himself:
From 24 to 62 rooms. From 3 employees to 30. We'll take you on a little journey through time, one by one, through the last three eventful decades of Altstadt.#staytuned
