The passion for collecting at the Altstadt isn’t only manifested by the pieces of contemporary art we exhibit on our walls. Far from it. Over 50 different rooms, each unique in its own right, have also allowed us to collect over 50 timeless design classics. And to place them at the disposal of our guests.

Whether individual pieces with a rich history or works by design partners such as Vitra, Fritz Hansen or Wittmann, seating in general, and armchairs in particular, has always held a special appeal for the Altstadt: for example the Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen, the RO fauteuil by Jaime Hayon, the Barcelona Chair by Mies van der Rohe, the Eames Plastic Armchair, La Chaise, the Aluminium Chair and more.
