Doppelzimmer Large #64 - Adolf Krischanitz Room - Boutique Hotel Altstadt Vienna

Altstadt
Tour #64

Space in between

The Austrian architect Adolf Krischanitz cares about the utilization and interpretation of unused space. With his room creation for the Altstadt Vienna he creates several intermediate spaces which can hardly be surpassed in terms of their functionality. The entrance area functions both as a washing and dressing space. Neatly hidden behind sliding doors made of knotty oak these functional areas disappear in an elegant manner. The functional pieces of furniture, like the floating bench AK12 designed for Wittmann, give the room an innovative character. And were all designed by Adolf Krischanitz himself.

Amenities and comfort of his designs are of upmost importance to the architect. The wall design - a dual interpretation of the concept of nature - brings calm and quiet into the room. A floral sketch by a young Austrian artist, brought to live as a wallpaper, is complemented by a wooden wall and creates a connection to the city. Vienna too, is infused with green oases, which shape and complete the urban landscape of the metropolis.

Incidentally, POLKA - the design duo behind rooms #37 and #51 - too created with their chair Alma an iconic seat for the furniture manufacturer Wittmann. You can relax in Alma in POLKA's room #51 as well as in our red salon.
