Arthur Arbesser

Arbesser was born and raised in Vienna, where he absorbed the city's rich history and culture from an early age.

After graduating from Central Saint Martins College in London, he moved to Milan, where he spent several years working for a leading fashion house. Following the launch of his own label and being named a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2015, he quickly gained recognition for his graphic aesthetics and distinctive design language. In addition to his eponymous label, Arbesser works as a creative consultant and collaborates on a wide range of projects – from furniture to product design. His creative world is rounded out by costume designs for ballet and opera productions.

At Altstadt Vienna, he teamed up with the furniture manufacturer Wittmann to design rooms #14 and #30 – a true “Viennese-Milanese” fusion. Bold colours and patterns meet iconic pieces by Josef Hoffmann and Friedrich Kiesler.

By the way: with room #14, Arbesser pays tribute to one of his favourite designers – Josef Frank. It’s actually the second homage to Frank at the Altstadt. Our Suite #78 is also dedicated to the Austrian-Swedish architect and designer.
